coffee has an interesting way of showing up in our cultural conversation. an exCerpt, of coffee and its collective appearance as a character in the everyday.

What a line to be expressed while at the exact point of Mr. Coates sipping espresso. Since this conversation occured in this Morningside Bakery, I’m sure a lot of lines were said over the extracted beverage. But what’s even more interesting is the location where one of americas lauded voices on black race chose to have this conversation and over what, coffee, an espresso to be exact.
I’m assuming it was Mr. Coates choice to be at this morningside bakery, since its near his home. Perhaps, he’s a regular here, the spatial context of the meeting gives probability that he is. In that case, I find it. Inspiring that this writer as regular has place himself in the historical tradition of many of america’s late writers and current greats.
